Verry Iskandar joined Soemadipradja & Taher in 2014 after a 10 year career with the Indonesian Competition Commission (KPPU), having last held the position of the commission’s Investigation Division. Verry now heads the firm’s Competition & Antitrust practice.
Verry has advised Indonesian and international clients on competition and antitrust compliance and merger filings involving complex cross-border transactions, having experience in handling competition tribunal proceedings and litigation. He has also advised clients on various matters relating to Indonesian competition law, in key areas including cases involving cartels, abuse of market dominance, vertical restraints, resale price maintenance, tender and procurement, collusion, common directorship, and competition compliance programs.

- Represented PT Astra Honda Motor, the largest motorcycle manufacturer in Indonesia on numerous competition/anti-trust litigation cases at KPPU and before the Indonesian courts, and achieved positive outcomes for the client.
- Represented clients across a wide range of industry sectors in KPPU investigations involving allegations of monopolistic practices and unfair business competition.
- Acted for several clients in obtaining clearance to carry out cross–border transactions which require a merger filing with KPPU.
- Acted for Japan Tobacco Inc in its US$1 billion acquisition of PT Karyadibya Mahardika and PT Surya Mustika Nusantara, a clove cigarette manufacturer and its distributor company in Indonesia, respectively for which clearance from KPPU was required and secured.
