We are pleased to share that Denia Isetianti Permata, a Partner of our firm, recently participated as a speaker in the third seminar of the 2025 Continuing Legal Education Programme, themed “From Emissions to Transactions: Legal Insight Into Indonesia’s Carbon Exchange,” held by the Financial Sector Legal Consultants’ Association (Himpunan Konsultan Hukum Sektor Keuangan, HKHSK) on Tuesday, 24 June 2025 at the Main Hall of Indonesia Stock Exchange Building. She spoke alongside representatives from the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Indonesia(Kantor Staf Presiden), the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Indonesia Stock Exchange, and market participants She was assisted by our Associate, Aveninta Maria Rosalin.


Denia led a session on “Structure and Transactional Risks in Carbon Trading,” addressing key legal aspects such as contract structuring, due diligence, and regulatory compliance. She outlined the types of carbon contracts and the relevant key clauses stipulated in such contracts, which included price components, timeline, registration and authorisation, exit strategy as well as force majeure. The session also emphasised the importance of conducting thorough legal due diligence on carbon projects to ensure compliance and minimise legal exposure, supported by selected case examples from the carbon market. In addition, it covered carbon initiative projects and recent cases in the carbon trading space, offering practical reflections on risks and legal safeguards drawn from real-world examples.


Denia’s contribution offered valuable perspectives on the legal structuring of carbon transactions in Indonesia and supported a deeper understanding of the risks and safeguards essential to this evolving area of practice.
